विनजीत वैदिक मैथ्स की प्रथम पुस्तक में हम आपको सिखाएंगे अंग्रेजी कैलेंडर तथा हिंदी कैलेंडर के बारे में आपको बताएंगे।

हम दिनों और सप्ताह के बारे में जान चुके हैं अर्थात 7 दिनों से मिलकर 1 सप्ताह बनता है। इसी प्रकार विभिन्न दिनों से मिलकर माह (मास) बनते हैं। और विभिन्न 12 माह (मास) से मिलकर एक वर्ष बनता है।

एक वर्ष (साल) में कुल 12 महीनों होते हैं और इन सभी महीनों के अलग-अलग नाम होते हैं।

महीनों के नाम के साथ, शुद्ध उच्चारण, हिन्दी नाम व महीने में दिनों की कुल संख्या आदि के बारे में जानकारी होनी चाहिए।

साल के सभी 12 महीनों में दिन बराबर नहीं होते हैं। किसी महीनों में 28 दिन तो किसी में 29 या 30 या 31 दिन होते हैं। जो हमने नीचे देने का प्रयास किया है।

Dates in English

When we say the date in English we normally use ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc) instead of cardinal numbers (one, two, three, etc). Let’s look at these ordinal numbers:

• 1st – first
• 2nd – second
• 3rd – third
• 4th – fourth
• 5th – fifth
• 6th – sixth
• 7th – seventh
• 8th – eighth
• 9th – ninth
• 10th – tenth

The numbers from 11-19 follow the same pattern of adding -th to the number:

• 11th – eleventh
• 12th – twelfth (the letter v changes to f)
• 13th – thirteenth
• 14th – fourteenth
• 15th – fifteenth
• 16th – sixteenth
• 17th – seventeenth
• 18th – eighteenth
• 19th – nineteenth

The numbers ending in -ty, like 20 and 30, change the -y to -i and add -eth. For example:

• 20 – twentieth
• 30 – thirtieth
• 21st – twenty-first
• 22nd – twenty-second
• 23rd – twenty-third
• 24th – twenty-fourth
• 25th – twenty-fifth
• 26th – twenty-sixth
• 27th – twenty-seventh
• 28th – twenty-eighth
• 29th – twenty-ninth
• 30th – thirtieth
• 31st – thirty-first

Order of Days and Months when saying the date

There are two ways of giving the date in English:

Month + Day: December 25 – used in United States.* OR

Day + Month: 25th December – used in the rest of the world.

*  The exception is with the name of the US celebration the Fourth of July.

In British English, the date usually begins with the day followed by the month, while in American English the month is normally first. This is also true when we abbreviate a date into three numbers. For example, 1st December 2017 becomes:

• 1/12/2017 in British English

           DD/MM/YYYY

• 12/1/2017 in American English

            MM/DD/YYYY

Date : - There are many Methods of writing Date. Some of them are given below. First of them is most popular than last. So we will use the first Method. 

दिनांक या तारीख लिखने के कई तरीके हैं। जिनमें से कुछ नीचे लिखे गए हैं। इनमें सबसे ऊपर का सबसे प्रचलित तथा सबसे नीचे का सबसे कम प्रचलित है इसलिए हम प्रथम तरीके को ही लिखेंगे।

Note :–> 4th format is not appropriate because sometime it is read as 4th of December (in British English) and sometime 10th of April (in American English) 

★ 'st' is added after –> 1st, 21st, 31st

★ 'nd' is added after –> 2nd, 22nd

★ 'rd' is added after –> 3rd, 23rd

★ 'th' is added after –> 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th, 13th, 14th 15th 16th 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th 25th, 26th, 27th 28th 29th 30th

How to say the YEARS in English

Years are normally divided into two parts; the first two digits and the last two digits. **

2017 is divided into 20 and 17 so you would say twenty seventeen.

• 1982 = nineteen eighty-two
• 1999 = nineteen ninety-nine
• 2017 = twenty seventeen
• 2021 = twenty twenty-one

In US English, a comma is put after the day if it is followed by a year.
