Geometry is a branch that deals with shapes, sizes, and the properties of figures.
Shape –
A one or two-dimensional form of an object or its outline or outer boundary or outer surface is called shape.
A continuous and smooth flowing shape or a line in a plane having a bent or turns in it is called A curve.
Types
(1) Simple Curve
(i) Open Curve
(ii) Closed Curve
(2) Non-simple or complex Curve
Types of Curves
Simple Curve: A curve changes direction but does not cross or intersect itself while changing direction is called a simple curve.
A simple curve can be open and closed both.
Non-simple or complex curves: A curve that crosses its own path is called a non-simple or complex curve. It means the curve intersects itself while changing its direction.
Open curve: A curve which does not enclose any area within itself and has two endpoints is called open curve.
Closed curve: A curve without end points and encloses an area (or a region) is called close curve.
It is formed by joining the end points of an open curve together. The best example of closed curves are circles , ellipses are formed from closed curves.
